Question 1

How do I book a lawyer?

Accepted Answer

Browse advocates, select a session duration, pick an available time slot, describe your case briefly, and pay via M-Pesa or card. You will receive a video link via SMS immediately.

Question 2

How much does it cost?

Accepted Answer

A platform booking fee applies: 15 min – KES 300, 30 min – KES 800, 60 min – KES 1,500, 90 min – KES 2,000. Legal fees are quoted privately by your advocate after the session.

Question 3

How do I join my session?

Accepted Answer

Click the link sent to your phone via SMS at your session time. The video opens directly in your browser. No download required.

Question 4

What is the AI summary?

Accepted Answer

Within 5 minutes of your session ending you will receive a summary of key points discussed and your next steps via SMS and in-app.

Question 5

Can I get a refund?

Accepted Answer

If your advocate does not attend a confirmed session you will receive a full refund within 24 hours. Platform fees are otherwise non-refundable.

Question 6

How do I join Lex?

Accepted Answer

Create a free account, enter your LSK admission number for verification, complete your profile, and go live. Takes under 10 minutes.

Question 7

How do I get paid?

Accepted Answer

Intro consultations: clients pay the flat platform booking fee (KES 300) by M-Pesa or card before the session; payment processing is deducted and Lex retains 100% of the net — you receive KES 0 from that fee. Case hire and case invoices (your legal fees on Lex): separate from consultations. Lex earns 1% of what the client pays; payment processing (~1.5% on M-Pesa) is deducted from the same gross — you receive about 97.5% (e.g. KES 97,500 on a KES 100,000 payment). Case hire settles to your payout balance when the client pays.

Question 8

What is the Advocate Plan (Lex Pro)?

Accepted Answer

One subscription at KES 2,999/month (14-day trial when LSK verified) unlocks your full provider presence: search, bookings, case tools, and AI features. Billing is collected by M-Pesa or card. If payment lapses, you are hidden from search and cannot take new work until you restore payment.

Question 9

Is my LSK number verified?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our team manually checks your LSK admission number against the Law Society of Kenya roll before your profile goes live — there's no public LSK API, so a human reviews every submission.

Question 10

Who owns the client relationship?

Accepted Answer

You do. Lex provides the technology platform. The legal relationship is entirely between you and your client.
